Chess Downloads On Internet Archive

     The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. The site provides free access to researchers, historians, scholars, the print disabled, and the general public. 
     It began in 1996 by archiving the Internet itself as it was just beginning to grow in use. Today the archive contains 330 billion web pages, 20 million books and texts, 4.5 million audio recordings, 4 million videos, 3 million images and 200,000 software programs. But, because it is a library they pay special attention to books. 
     The question is, is it legal to download software from the Internet Archive? I have no idea. I found several chess books, but doubt that they are legal seeing that they are fairly recent. I am less sure of the old issues of Chess Life and Chess Review. In any case, if interested you can download PDF versions of the old Chess Life magazine from back in the days when it was a bi-weekly printed on newsprint as well as Al Horowitz' great magazine, Chess Review.
