The other day I was playing through a couple of games in
Alexi Shirov’s Fire On Board and
finally got around to playing over a game given without notes in the Foreword
by GM Jonathan Speelman who expressed regret that Shirov did not include the game
in the book. I have to agree with
Speelman that it’s unfortunate Shirov didn’t annotate it for us. In fact I wasn’t able to find annotations
anywhere. It’s not possible for me to
present it here with any notes because it’s way
too complicated and I don’t trust engine analysis; the material is too
imbalanced and I don’t think an engine evaluation could be trusted. An amazing game.
