Dictionary of Latvian Chessplayers

    While surfing the internet the other day I stumbled across two pdf books you can view online that were written by Val Zemitis, a master and chess journalist who was born in Latvia, but immigrated to the United States.
     The stated purpose of the books is “to show the chess world how many good chess players came from Latvia.” 
     Since it was impossible to find out who was a citizen of Latvia or who was a native of Latvia, Zemitis included all players whose legal residence was in Latvia and who played chess in Latvia between the years of 1900 to 2000.
     There are brief biographies, photos and a a lot of unknown games in the two volumes which comprise 803 (!) pages.
