Prominent Chess Player Arrested

I ran across this article in the February 26, 1922 edition of the New York Times and couldn't help posting it. It seems that criminal activity was a family business with the Whitakers.  It's not mentioned in the article, but besides Norman and sister Dorothy, his brother Roland and another sister, Hazel, had also been arrested.

They managed to delay the legal machine for a while, but on July 16, 1925 the headline ran -"WHITAKER GOES TO PRISON: Chess Player Leaves Philadelphia for Leavenworth in Auto Theft Case"
