Mikhail Tahl

     Mikhail Tahl (9 November 1936 – 28 June 1992) was the eighth World Champion, briefly holding the title from from 1960 to 1961. He was one of the best attacking players of all time and a highly regarded chess writer. The game Tahl vs. Klaman given here is a good example of the depths to which GM's can calculate. Tahl's opponent in this game, Konstantin Klaman (12-23-1917 – 10-5-85, 65 years old) was the Leningrad Champion in 1962-63 and in 1961 he helped train Boris Spassky.
